About Nitro Rally
Nitro Rally is a love letter to the arcade racing games of the 1980s. The graphics are 2D and colourful, the controls are simple and the focus is entirely on driving a clean, quick lap. Your car runs automatically, so instead of worrying about the accelerator, you concentrate on the line through each corner and the moment to use your turbo.
There are ten different circuits to race on, and hidden cars to unlock as you play. Each circuit has its own shape and rhythm, so learning the tracks is a big part of the fun. Bright visuals and cheerful sound effects make it feel like a classic arcade cabinet in your browser.
How to play Nitro Rally
Controls
Steer with the Left and Right arrow keys and brake with the Down arrow. Use the mouse to move through the menus. Because the car accelerates by itself, braking is your main tool for controlling speed into tight bends.
Turbo
When you need an extra burst of speed, use the turbo. It is most useful on straights and gentle curves, where the extra speed will not throw you off the track.
Lap times and unlocks
Every circuit rewards a clean, fast lap. Improve your best time, explore the different tracks and discover the more powerful cars that are hidden in the game.
Tips for faster laps
- Brake before the corner, not in it. Slowing down early lets you steer through the bend at full grip.
- Use the whole track. Start wide, cut to the inside at the apex and drift back out.
- Turbo on exit. Boosting as you leave a corner gives the biggest gain on the next straight.
- Learn one circuit at a time. Repeating a track until you know its corners is the fastest way to improve.
- Look for the hidden cars. A stronger car can make a stubborn lap record fall.
Retro racing, modern convenience
Nitro Rally loads quickly in a browser and needs nothing more than four arrow keys. It is perfect for short sessions, and the lap-time chase gives you a clear goal every time you play.
Learning the ten circuits
Each of the ten circuits has its own character. Some are built around long, fast sweeps where the turbo shines; others are full of tight hairpins where braking early is the only way through. Spend a few laps on a new circuit simply finding the corners before you start chasing a time, and pay attention to where the track narrows. Once the layout is in your head, your lap times will drop quickly and you can start pushing harder into every bend.
