About Grand Nitro Formula

Grand Nitro Formula is a 3D formula racing game built around single-seater cars, open-wheel racing and plenty of speed. You choose how to race: enter the championship, warm up in practice races, or chase the clock in time attack. Before you start, you buy your formula car, and as you progress there are lots of customisation options to make it your own. If you are looking for a formula racing game in the spirit of formula 1 games, without needing a console, this is a good place to start.

Formula cars are light, fast and grippy, which means they reward precise driving. Nitro gives you a burst of speed on the straights, and a handbrake helps you rotate the car in the tightest hairpins.

How to play Grand Nitro Formula

Controls

Drive with W, A, S and D or the arrow keys. Press F for nitro, Space for the handbrake and B to look behind you. On a phone or tablet, use the touch controls.

Game modes

The championship is a series of races where your results count. Practice races let you learn a track without pressure, and time attack is you against the stopwatch.

Your car

Buy your formula car before your first race, then spend your earnings on customisation as you go.

Tips for faster laps

• Brake in a straight line. Formula cars are unstable if you brake while turning.
• Use nitro on exits. Fire it as you leave a corner, not on the way in.
• Handbrake only for hairpins. On normal bends it costs more time than it saves.
• Learn tracks in practice. Knowing where each corner is lets you brake at the right moment.
• Look back before you defend. B shows you where rivals are, so you can cover the inside line.

Formula racing versus street racing

Formula cars behave very differently from the road cars in most of our games. They have far more grip and much stronger brakes, so the fastest drivers carry speed into corners and brake later than feels natural. Sliding a formula car is almost always slow. If you are used to drifting games, try to keep the car tidy and let the grip do the work.

Which mode to start with

Start in practice. It lets you learn the handling and the track layout without rivals or a clock. Then try time attack to see how consistent your laps are, and only enter the championship once you can complete a clean lap. Customising your car comes later, when you have earned enough from races.
