About Twisty Roads
Twisty Roads is a relaxing yet surprisingly tense endless driving game. A cheerful cartoon car rolls forward along a road that bends left, right and back again, climbing and dipping through colourful scenery. Your job is to keep it on the road and steer it through every checkpoint gate along the way.
The idea could not be simpler, and that is its charm. There are only two controls, the game explains them on a single screen, and you can be playing within seconds. The challenge comes from the road itself, which keeps getting harder to follow the further you drive.
How to play Twisty Roads
Steering
Your car accelerates by itself. Press the Left or Right arrow key to steer. On a phone or tablet, touch the left or right half of the screen. Keep steering inputs short: holding a direction for too long sends the car off the edge.
Checkpoints and obstacles
Gates stand across the road at regular intervals. Driving through a gate earns points; missing one, or crashing into something beside the road such as a tree, ends the run. The help screen shows exactly which situations count as a pass and which count as a fail.
Coins and vehicles
Coins appear along the road. Collect them, then use the arrows on the start screen to choose a different vehicle. You can also pick easy, medium or hard before you set off.
Tips for longer drives
- Steer early into bends. Starting a turn a moment before the curve keeps the car in the middle of the road.
- Use tiny taps. Short taps make gentle corrections; long presses lead to zigzagging.
- Look for the next gate. Lining up with the gate ahead is more important than grabbing a coin at the edge.
- Start on easy. Learning the feel of the steering on easy roads makes medium and hard far less frustrating.
- Stay relaxed. Tense, jerky inputs are the main cause of runs ending early.
A perfect quick-break game
Each run of Twisty Roads lasts as long as your concentration does. It is ideal for a short break, it plays well on a phone, and the cute visuals make it suitable for every age.
Choosing your vehicle
The arrows on the start screen let you switch between vehicles once you have collected enough coins to unlock them. Each one gives the same road a slightly different feel, which is a nice reason to keep playing after you have mastered the first car. Treat every new vehicle as a fresh start: drive a few calm runs on easy before returning to medium or hard, because the steering response you learned with the old car may not carry over exactly.
